JFK, Richard Nixon, Donald Trump, and Superheroes…

Every once in a while, I write an article that can best be experienced emotionally rather than intellectually. On such occasions, I try and offer a song that can set the mood. If you are of a mind, listen to Bonnie Tyler’s Holding Out for a Hero before reading this article.

The Matrix

The Matrix was a classic science fiction trilogy that has embedded itself into the American lexicon – it is the source of the ‘Red pill/Blue pill’ analogy for choosing reality or remaining blissfully ignorant. Like all great science fiction, the entire story is a metaphor for the human condition.

In the movie, circumstances force the protagonist, Neo, to choose the Red Pill or the Blue Pill. Selecting Red (and choosing reality) causes his awakening to the reality that he has been living a lie – that everything he believed about his freedoms was untrue. Still in shock from the impact of this massive paradigm shift, he is forced to defend himself (and those he cares about) from the high-tech forces who have been enslaving him; he is forced to pick sides. The gut-wrenching terrifying thing is, these forces are so all-powerful as to leave him all but overwhelmed.

Our Matrix

Something similar is happening to Americans as we speak. Every day, a new crack appears in the illusion we have been living. Many have long suspected our politicians are more controlled by big money rather than our vote and/or that the Washington bureaucracy had spawned a Deep State needing to be checked. Some of us had even gone as far as publicly speaking out about the necessity of disbanding certain federal police and intelligence agencies and the need to deconstruct the Administrative State in general. Few of us, however, were ready for the reality revealed as ever bigger chunks of our rose-colored glasses started falling away…

Yes, we had watched as every multinational business (including the media) divorced itself from reality and sacrificed profits to discredit and marginalize our duly elected President, Donald J. Trump. We witnessed our entire government rise up to fabricate transparent excuses to remove him from office and saw our judiciary go along with it while all the highest levels of academia applauded. Then, in what most polled Americans feel was a rigged election, they threw the people’s choice out of office.

Every American is on their own timeline towards enlightenment but enough of us have reached this point that the public unrest is palpable.

But, now… Now, we are being bombarded with incontrovertible evidence that our government has blatantly thrown away our free speech by liaising with social media to censor dissent. We are seeing fellow Americans imprisoned for assembling to present grievances to our government. We are watching the professional political class (indebted to the anti-America-First Globalists) drain our treasury and open our borders to invasion. We read every day of more totalitarian methods and devices that are being implemented to further enslave us – everything from vaccine passports to ESG social scoring. And just this week it was revealed on the Tucker Carlson show that our gilded cage is not a new situation, that for many of us our entire lives have been a façade. Our Deep State un-democracy has been in control at least since 1963 when our own CIA assassinated the people’s choice for President, John F. Kennedy. We are even now realizing it was these same unseen nefarious forces who ran President Richard M. Nixon out of office. They have been in control for decades and we have been blissfully ignorant for all of our lives.

In the Matrix, Neo didn’t ask to be ‘woken up’ – circumstances put him in that situation. His only choice was to go back to sleep (Blue Pill) or continue awakening (Red Pill). That decision was made in the first 15 minutes of the first movie in the three-movie trilogy… yet, it is that decision (not everything that happens after) that makes him a hero.

As Neo chooses reality, he finds himself surrounded by others who are seeing clearly, yet suffer from all the human failings. Some have given up hope, some are barely coping. At least one is a zealot and one has real faith. They talk about needing a hero. Someone that can lead them in the fight against the enemy, someone that can lead them to overcome the odds.

I see this amongst many of us today. Many of us are in despair; many are close to giving up. We can be sure of our reward in the next world while still believing God means more for us in this one, so we all look at each other and ask, ‘Who will save us?’ Some of us are bonded to the cause by the blood of our ancestors while others have no idea what role they should play… all of us are scared. Many are desperately searching for that Blue Pill.

In the Matrix, everyone is hoping Neo is the hero. Those hopes and the expectations of others are overwhelmingly frightening to him because he knows he isn’t the one…

Neo is us. He represents every single one of us. As circumstances move forward and the situation becomes ever more dire, he doesn’t have any grand realizations; he doesn’t make a decision to lead the fight. He does what he does because he is who he is. He becomes the one because all it takes is one…

I’ll let you watch the trilogy to discover the ending, but in the meantime, I encourage you to go back and listen to Holding Out for a Hero one more time. Whether it is looking for a hero to save yourself or to save an entire country, maybe we need to do less looking and more becoming.

I heard today the idea about what the open borders [mostly to young men] in uk and usa is really about is having a ready pool of young men who can be turned in to a government/corporate para-military or security force which will have no love or empathy or shared values with the people they will be using force against, and hence will be very willing to kill on order, or obey immoral orders. What do you think about this?
